Ben's Cave Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TomInJax: Unfortunately Chris doesn't work for the tour company any more and his schedule prevents him from being able to maintain this cache. I don't make it to GBI enough, so I will have to archive this cache.

If you have found the remains of the cache (the velcro), then of course - log it.

Geocache Description:

This is an easy hike to a beautiful site in a park in Freeport. You are looking for a 35mm film can with a small log in a mini-ziploc bag. Don't forget to bring a pen!

The local inhabitants on the island originally discovered this cave. Ben Rose, one of the original dive staff for UNEXSO, was told about it and the fish inside. He eventually explored the underwater caverns in the cave and was the first person to bring people diving in the cave. Since then, the cave has been explored and found to be total of 6.5 miles long.

The cave is within the Lucayan National Park in Freeport, on the Grand Bahama Island. There is a beautiful beach about 1/2 mile from this cave.

We discovered this cave on a Jeep excursion while we were on a cruise stop in the Bahamas. We met the tour guide Chris, who is helping in the maintenance of this cache, and also was instrumental in getting permission for placement of the cache.

Ben's Cave is named in honor of Ben Rose who is pictured here
