Longworth Clough lies within the valley of Eagley Brook. It is
on the northern outskirts of Bolton, about 1km (0.5 mile) northwest
of Egerton and the same distance southeast of Belmont. Parking is
possible in rough lay-bys on the Longworth Road. Vehicles are left
entirely at the owner's risk. Buses run through Egerton and Belmont
from Blackburn and Bolton.
The nature reserve is open to the general public and several
public footpaths pass through it. In the interest of wildlife
conservation and your own safety please stay on the footpaths. Some
of the fields have livestock grazing them, please ensure you dog is
on a lead at all times.
There is an alternative route following on from GCXAME, with
parking available on Egerton Road, which may be easier for people
with smaller children. This is a flatter but longer walk. The
Terrain/Difficulty ratings are based on approaching the cache from
Longworth Road.
Please ensure the cache is sealed completely and carefully
replaced.
I have increased the terrain rating slightly as the path had
become more difficult since the cache was placed.
Please take great care if approaching the
cache by the short, steep route.
It can get very slippy
