Geocache Description:

Parking is available at Manorbier Beach carpark and is free out of season. There are public toilets located in the carpark. The cache is located along a walk behind/below Manorbier Castle. Exit the carpark on foot through its main entrance, turn left, then look for the footpath through the gate to your right. The path can get quite muddy at times, but is flat and easy to manage.

This cache will bring you to Manorbier, a village described by that famous Welsh renaissance man, Giraldus Cambrensis, as "the pleasantest spot in Wales."

Manorbier Castle and its surrounding lands are nestled in a narrow valley carved from two streams which flow past sandy beaches to Manorbier Bay. On the way to the cache, make sure to explore the the remains of the castle's mill, the fishpond and the dovecote (which housed the castle's winter meat supply and is in outstanding condition).

After you find the cache, you can either return to the carpark, or continue on the footpath past Park Farm Caravan Park, returning to the center of the village and the main entrance to Manorbier Castle via the main road.

If your visit brings you to Manorbier between Easter and September/October, make sure you visit the castle (admission required).

It's also worth stopping at St. James' Church, a 12th century Norman church overlooking Manorbier Bay.

Once you've worked up an appetite, you can stop in at Chives Tearoom (closed in winter) or the Castle Inn pub. The restaurant at Castle Mead Hotel is also open for evening meals and Sunday lunch.

The cache is a smallish snap-lock box inside a sealable freezer bag inside a large black bin bag.

The original contents of the cache were:

Small notebook with 3 pens
Packet of emery boards
Small hairbrush
Beetle pencil sharpener
Mirror keyring
Coloured pencils
Lavender candle
Lavender mini incense kit
Travel Bug
