In Jackson Towers parking lot, north of the turnpike and across
from the US Dept of Energy Federal Bldg. Oak Ridge Operations
Center.
This is a magnetic key holder with a log. Please BYOP. The parking
lot is busy during regular business hours but the cache location is
near the outer perimeter. PLEASE Be watchful for muggles. The cache
name is derived from the original facility across the turnpike
(south), "The Castle" where the Federal Bldg. now sits. In
1942, Oak Ridge was built as a Secret City with a mission to
develop an atomic bomb. The Atomic Energy Commission had it's
headquarters where the Federal Bldg. now sits, and it was
affectionately called "The Castle". Enjoy your visit.
Please avoid drawing attention to yourself while looking for the
cache. If you are fairly new to geocaching, you might consider
picking up a cache like this one on the weekend or at night when
you would have more time and be less conspicuous. Being stealthy
will help keep these caches active and give the next geocacher the
thrill of the hunt. Thanks!
