Small tupperware container with small items, and a cool location.

What is a Weir?

There are hundreds of different types of water control structures used throughout the state of Florida. To learn about then try Plant Management in Florida waters site by the University of Florida or the Stormwater Education Toolkits at the Stormwater institute at the University of Central Florida.

Truth is you drive by these little structures every day that are used to control the flow of water all throughout Florida. The design of the weir is to control the flow at both high and low levels to (1) control pollution and (2) prevent flooding. Our state is criss-crossed by a complex system of lakes, canals, rivers, pipes, and control structures. This cache is placed near one of the most interesting shaped structures I have seen - have fun finding this.
