Before the days of I-65, Hackberry Road used to go across the lower ridge of Shades Mountain. After the pass was blasted out of the mountain the original road came to an abrupt end in the woods and a new entrance was made off Tyler Road parallel to the interstate.
For years no one used this road, since it didn't go anywhere, except for illegal dumping. Some local high school students from Berry would occasionally go to the end at night to observe the skies and to engage in other recreational activities.
Over the years the original road has been heavily developed with professional offices on the lower slope and Condo's and Town Homes toward the top. The end of the road has pretty much been covered up now but there is still a remnant of a rock road to get access to a nearby cell tower where Hackberry used to cross the ridge . You can still view the passing traffic below on I-65 from this vantage point.
The cache is a magnetic micro on a structure (not the cell tower) at this point. As the access path is on an easement between the back yards of two rows of Town Homes some discretion will be needed if trying this one at night. WALK the last 50 yards up to this one, DON'T DRIVE!! This is a log only so bring an appropriate writing implement.
4/10/08 - Replaced container and moved it a couple of feet. Adding parking coordinates which are at the beginning of the trail you need to take to get to the cache.
Parking Coords: N 33.25.115
W 086.48.647

**UPDATE** 1/10/23
The original hiding spot (billboard support beam) has been mercilessly removed by a cutting torch and all that remains is the I-Beam remnant still anchored in the ground. (I can understand why it was removed as I hadn't even noticed that the billboard was missing which means it wasn't very effective for advertising). The cell tower lives on and the container is nearby at the original coords.

**UPDATE** 2/20/24
After a recent DNF I figured the magnetic container may have gone missing again. This time I replaced it with a small, short plastic tube with cammo tape and slightly dug it in the dirt at GZ (the cut off I-beam).

**UPDATE** 10/22/25
After notification that this one is missing again I decided to move it a bit from the original GZ due to minimal hiding options since the sign was cut down. It is close by and is now a black bison tube behind the cell tower.
