I hiked this trail two years ago to find the original Climbing Pine cache, which has since been archived. Despite a difficult, Juan-strewn hike, I loved the tree and the location on the lake - approximately N44 49.468 W63 34.558. Sadly, the tree has since lost a limb, but it is still majestic.
I've rated the difficulty at 3, but this could rise, depending on the time of year. When the water levels are low, you will be able to follow an easy woods trail, then, when you begin to encounter Juan trees that have not been cleared, you can detour to the rocky beach. But if the water level is high, you will be doomed (as I was, first time around) to a much more difficult hike.
Happy Trails!
