This cache has been approved by the Senior Warden for Denbighshire's Countryside Service.

Senior Countryside Warden, for North Denbighshire, said:“The then Clwyd County Council, through its Countryside Service, took over the management of the Brickfields Pond in 1993. At that particular time the “dirty pond slur” may have been justified, but since that date Denbighshire Countryside Service has turned the site around from one of dereliction to the first Local Nature Reserve in North East Wales.

“This designation demonstrated Denbighshire’s commitment to improving the environment and has received grant aid from the Countryside Council for Wales for seven successive years. Would the Government’s statutory adviser on conservation pump money into a dumping ground where “wildlife is dying” ?

“Denbighshire’s Countryside Service Northern area wardens are based on site and in conjunction with various groups, schools and local industry, closely manage the site on a daily basis. Past projects include the creation of an island and improvements to marginal vegetation with has created a perfect nesting habitat for the resident swans and other wildfowl. A community woodland has been planted, access for all provided and on-site interpretation to help visitors to identify and respect the resident wildlife.

It is known locally as 'The Bricky'.
It has its own angling club and fishing platforms.

Congratulations to PhilPamAndRob who was 1st to find this Geocache on 3/2/07.
