Stockton Harbor - Maine Rose Series Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hollora: Well, this has had a long run! I no longer live close and gas is much more expensive than 7 years ago. Facing some serious and potentially life altering challenges in the future so time to let this go.

I suspect the report of one cacher about the wet log was Because - the container probably wasn't there - wished I had know but probably would have not changed the decision - just hastened it! I wondered but haven't been able to get down.

The prudent thing for me to do is archive this which will allow some other gung ho cacher to use the area! It been a great ride - cache on, cache happy!

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Maine R.O.S.E. Series and is meant to be really obvious, simple and easy. It's perfect for cachers who want a quick find, or who are not up for a physical challenge. The purpose of this series is to promote caching to everyone, and create a fun family cache experience. Some fellow cachers get discouraged by vague descriptions and caches that appear to be difficult hides. Our attempt here is to make the cacher aware of the entire situation before they attempt the cache. If you have any comments that should be added, please let us know.

Directions: This cache is located near a great view of Stockton Harbor. Take the Cape Road off from Main Street and head towards the Fort Point Lighthouse Park. At the sharp corner, continue straight on the West Cape Road to the wooden bridge.

Parking: There is space for a small car to pull off near the location of this cache. Please take great care since the road is narrow.

Difficulty: This cache has been rated 1.5 for difficulty because the cache is not in plain sight. You will need to remove the cache from a man made structure on the side of the road.

Terrain: This cache has been rated 1.5 for terrain because there is no trail.

Distance: The distance from the parking area to the cache is roughly 25-75 feet, depending on where you choose to park.

Cache Container: The container is a small rectangular Lock N' Lock type container.

More Information: This series has been developed in collaboration with Hollora and Becket. We have each committed to hiding a dozen rose caches in our area. The release of these roses will be sporatic in hopes to have three dozen live by Valentine's Day 2007.
