On the Te Araroa Walkway-Meremere to Te Kawhata Pumphouse stretch
Another cache on the Te Araroa walkway along the Waikato River.
On the stretch that is listed 9km long??
This walkway was developed by the Te Araroa trust, whose mission is to develop a walking trail the entire length of New Zealand .
The trail will incorporate some existing tracks such as the Hakarimata & Karamu walkways and some negotiated access through private land.
On this section are good opportunities to see plant and animal life associated with the Waikato River. Birds commonly seen or heard are White Faced Herons, Eastern Rosellas, Australian Harriers (kahu) magpies,black swans, several different kinds of shag and the glossy Kingfisher ( Kotare)
You cannot enter from Hampton Downs Rd as its private property.
