I have been wanting to explore this area for a long time, but I've
been discouraged by the gate. However it is public land all the way
to Salmon Falls Road so I just started elsewhere. Appropriately
near
Species5618's
Lollipoping the Gorge. I wanted to get close enough to lick it,
but I'd need a tongue 0.45 miles long
.
You get some great river views and you will probably have the
trail to youself. It's interesting to see the landscape change at
the location where the cache is. It begins to look much like the
Salmon Falls Trail.
Interestingly enough, you're close enough to the Lollipop Tree to
tell that it appears to be a Digger Pine.
There's some minor ups and downs to the cache, but the terrain
rating mainly comes from the length of the hike.
