A nice hike up Vertically Challenged, er, Short Mountain in
Berlin. You can park in Timberlin Park @ N41 36.351 W072 48.613,
and follow the trails/road to the blue/white trail @N41 36.301 W072
48.944. Cross the brook, then follow the b/w to the poorly marked
trail at N41 36.254 W072 49.024. This leads to the blue blazed
trail and up the mountain. Another possibility is to follow the
blue trail up from the other side of the mountain, but I've never
gone that way. I'll update the cache page when I do. If you park at
Timberlin Park, be sure to visit the other caches nearby.
NOTE: At the parking coords, you may see a gate that states
"Park Closed." This is only in reference to vehicles going up to
the nearby pavilion, and is in effect December to April.
Hiking/walking is accessible year round, dawn to dusk. Outside of
those months, if the gate is open you can drive further up the road
and park at the end, near the picnic shelter.
