Another cache in the Kelsborrow Wayfinders Sandstone Trail series.
The Sandstone Trail is a long distance trail running 32 miles
from Frodsham to Whitchurch. This cache is located close to the top
of Bulkeley Hill where you can enjoy views stretching over to
Cannock Chase and the Peak District.
We would recommend that cachers make a walk of this to fully
appreciate the views. By parking at the Cheshire Workshops car park
(N53 06.190 W002 42.905) you can make this into a lovely 3 mile
walk. Walk up Fowlers Bench Lane (between the pub and the workshop)
then turn left into Rock Lane and continue uphill until you reach
the Sandstone Trail where you turn right. Continue past
Pheasants and Sandstone until you reach a junction of path and
roads by a Sandstone Lodge. Continue on the Sandstone Trail and
enter the woods on Bulkeley Hill. Follow the trail through the
woods (initially this is National Trust property). You may lose
your GPS signal but the cache is hidden on the far side close to
the edge so shouldn’t pose a problem. Once you have found the cache
return to the Sandstone Trail and you will emerge on to Coppermine
Lane. Here you can either continue to
Gulley and Sandstone and
Rhodedendrons and Sandstone or follow the track to the right
which curves back around Bulkeley Hill and back to the Sandstone
Lodge. At this point you can take the road downhill back to
Burwardsley where you will emerge by the Cheshire Workshops.
You can also park on Coppermine Lane (N53 05.445 W002 43.016)
which is much closer but you miss out on a decent walk.
The cache is a tupperware container in a camouflage bag. Please
make sure that the cache is properly concealed when you replace
it
