Wattle Park is interesting for its blend of natural bush, recreational facilities and historic buildings from a more picturesque era. The vehicle entrance to the park is in Riversdale Road. Wattle Park was established by the Hawthorn Tramways Trust in 1916, and even now the Melbourne Tramways Band plays monthly on the Band platform during the warmer months. For many years two old W-class trams, initially quite intact, served as play equipment near the main picnic area.
Our cache is located in a less-known area that recalls the park’s ornamental past. The area is heritage-listed. You may be able to hear the chatter of rainbow lorikeets as you search. We have never encountered people in this area – except on the day we placed the cache. If picnicking muggles are in occupation, you’ll need to come back later.
Finding the cache does not require you to access the fenced area..
