Geocache Description:

You all know what NIMBY stands for, Right? Well, “White Tail Woods” was our first cache find and it is practically in our back yard.  That particular patch of woods has changed hands from one developer to another over the 14 years we have been here and has therefore been under continuous threat of development with public hearings, sketch plans, and preliminary plats. Ironically, after wetlands, sinking homes, bait and shoot, and a general NIMBY attitude towards development, this proposed new subdivision is back on the Planning Board agenda with another Public Hearing last night (2/15/07).

We’ve seen a lot of development and changes around here, lots of which has been great. We’re not really taking a position for or against. But when it comes to our backyard we’d naturally like to see things stay the way they are. There are some great patches of woods around here with fantastic opportunities for caching. Our NIMBY series is kind of intended to commemorate, or potentially replace the “White Tail Woods” multi, and also take advantage of some of these places while they are still around. (White Tail Woods would pretty much be wiped out by this proposed subdivison.  It's a fun cache so you better get it while you still can.)

This series consists of three logable caches. But you will have to find the first two caches plus one clue hide in order to find the Final. So,you will probably want to do these in order starting with this one. This first cache is kid friendly and suitable for trading and travel bugs. All the others are micros.

NOTE: MAKE SURE TO TAKE THE COORDINATE TO NIMBY-1. YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE THIS FIND TO OBTAIN PART OF THE COORDINATE TO THE FINAL.You will find the coordinate to NIMBY-1 in the log book and also on the inside lid of the cache container.

Parking is available on nearby residential streets, etc.  These caches will take some leg work so expect to spend a few hours out there. They can all be done without getting back into your car. There’s probably not much advantage to trying to re-park to get closer.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MICKEMT AND SKEETERBAIT 2 FOR THE FTF!
