Geocache Description:

Cache is hidden on the Low Road between Burntisland and Aberdour. This section of pathway is part of the Fife Coastal Path and National Cycleway Route 1. It’s best accessed from Aberdour or Burntisland but there is a right of way pathway from the A921 (the High Road) which will also take you to the path.

The cache is an easy find along the Fife Coastal Path. This route, the Low road, links Burntisland and Aberdour. It’s very popular with walkers, dog walkers and cyclists so it can be fairly busy during spells of half decent weather.
The cache is about half way between the two towns.

To access the Low Road from Aberdour it is best to park at Silversands car park (N56 03.165. W003 17.266) and then join up with the pathway at the north end of the beach (N56 03.366, W003 17.099).

There are a couple pf options for parking in Burntisland. The nearest “official” car park is on the Links (N56 03.570, W003 13.743) but there is also limited on street parking on Kirkton Road (N56 03.741 W003 14.200). From the Links head along the High Street (west) and then turn north onto Lothian Street. Continue up here where the road becomes Kirkton Road. The pathway can then be accessed near the pedestrian crossing.

(Note there is a charge for parking at the Silversands Car Park, but then again there is not always an attendant on duty.)

There is also an alternative road that joins the coastal path from the A921 at Starley Hall, but I believe this is a private road. The point of the cache is to get people walking (or cycling) along the path so I would not advise using this road.

Enjoy the views over the Forth to Edinburgh, Inchkeith and the bridges. Depending on the tide you will also be able to see seals basking on the rocks along the shore.

The cache is 1.1 litre lock and lock container.
