Geocache Description:

This is a traditional cache in an ammo canister maintained with assistance from the Flaming Arrow Patrol of Boy Scout Troop 295. The main theme is patches. The types of patches could be military, Scouting, etc. as long as they are appropriate for family and children. Please identify in your log which patch was removed and what was dropped off. Access is on a well-cleared trail. Permission was granted to place the cache by the troop Scoutmaster. Please stay on the trail.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF CAMP KT WALLACE
Two groups comprise what is now Camp K.T. Wallace: Cub Scout Pack 295, established in 1993 and Boy Scout Troop 295, established in 1995. The goal of Camp K.T. Wallace is to continue serving youth and adults in the scouting program. In 1996, there was a need for an independent facility and land to support the growing program. A local church that was utilized for scout meetings was unable to continue supporting both scouting programs while maintaining its weekly ministries. Assistance was requested to find a permanent location that the scouts could use. A sixteen-acre parcel of land was donated which was recommended by Mr. K. T. Wallace, forestry superintendent for a local company, Bradley Plywood. Plans for a building were made and construction was started. Mr. Charles Patterson was instrumental in overseeing the project. Mr. K. T. Wallace passed away from a heart attack before the building was completed. It was the wishes of Mr. Patterson and many others that the site was to be named Camp K. T. Wallace in his honor.
This Geocache is dedicated to Boy Scout Troop 295 and the individuals who donated their time and efforts to make the troop and property prosper into what it is today. From 3 boys and 2 adult leaders, to 47 boys, and 26 adult leaders, a great scout facility and beautiful land to place a geocache.
The cache starts at a cross using waypoint 32.18.874N 081.23.383W. It has a simple but strong statement: It is better to suffer doing good than be prosperous doing evil. You can pull off the road onto the shoulder to keep away from traffic.
