Geocache Description:

Welcome to the town of Medford, Oklahoma! This cache is not at the posted coordinates but to a monument dedicated to the pioneers and homesteaders of the Land Run into the Cherokee Outlet.

In the 1880's Jesse Chisholm drove cattle from Texas through Medford and Grant County to Caldwell, Kansas where the cattle were shipped eastward. This was known as the Chisholm Trail. They say that you can still see the ruts where they traveled on the trail.
Have fun and enjoy Medford. If you find yourself thirsty you might try Kennedy Drug Co. on Cherokee (the main street). They still have an old-fashioned soda fountain.

Below are 3 dates and a set of coordinates by each one. To find this cache, you will need to read the monument and find out which date is mentioned on it, then go to the coordinates listed by that date and you will find the cache.

November 19, 1959 N 36.48.373 W 097.44.103

October 22, 1936 N 36.48.169 W 097.44.173

September 16, 1893 N 36.48.401 W 097.44.394

Original Cache, together with log and pencil, includes:
1 travel bug
2 Town of Medford pencils
Bouncy ball
Yo-Yo
Butterfly Key Chain
Fish Card Game
Kaleidoscope
2 Coupons

The cache is concealed in a pouch. I would ask that you please place the cache back where and how you found it so only seekers find it and the next person will be able to retrieve it easily.

This can be a heavily used area at times, so you watch out for mugglers - big and small!

NOTE: 10/10/12 - This cache keeps getting muggled, so I have once again downsized the container hoping that it will stay longer than the others have. It's now a NANO. If this one gets muggles, I'm going to archive it. I'm getting tired of replacing it!
PLEASE initial the log and bring your own pen. Thanks!
