At roughly 1800', its a fairly easy drive up to reach this spectacular viewpoint. Some friends and I were riding ATVs up the power lines and were exploring the logging roads when we found this spot. If you have a dirt bike/quad, I recommend parking below and find your way up the steep switchback trail up the powerline to the roads. Or unload at the top, go down and back up, its a BLAST!
Update 4/26/20: The original cache has been lost due to a .. Plane Crashing on it!! yup, it was a direct hit. The area has scraps of metal and had a fire. Take a metal detector and find the ammo can! To drive up, Take Woods Rd off Hwy 101 near Longhouse Market & Deli. It will turn into a dirt road after a few miles as you enter the forest and if followed all the way, will take you to Quilcene. For the most part the roads are well packed and maintained with some potholes in places.
There is no cell phone reception on the back roads, but it comes back as you get nearer the top of the mountain. Roads are clear and open all the way for almost all vehicles except low riders. Road signs are small brown vertical posts. There is a steep wooded drop in front of the view, so please watch your kids/pets very closely. Seriously, this isn't a fenced tourist place. Keep it fun by being aware. There several caches to be found on the way and 2 Benchmarks up in the vicinity, be sure look them up. Enjoy!
