This traditional cache is hidden in the Cool Cache Land, Cool CA.
The area I refer to, as the “Cool Cache Land” is part of the Auburn State Recreation Area State Park. The area comprises many acres of rolling hills covered with oak, some Gray pine, lots of meadows and grassland, small ponds, creeks, and of course it has its share of poison oak. It is common to see wild turkey, coyote, red tailed hawks and turkey vultures doing their usual thing. There are miles of hiking, biking, running, and equestrian trails. In the spring the wildflowers are spectacular! There are several ways to locate the Cool-Cache-Land; the most popular is by taking I80 to South on Hwy 49 to the town of Cool. The traditional starting point, which has plenty of parking, is West of the fire station on the right just as you enter the town of Cool (N 38 53.335 W121 01.036). This particular parking area is best suited for equestrians’ hikers have several entry points to choose from. This section of the park is open 7:00am – 9:00pm.
Many years ago in it’s heyday, a fun-loving and highly competitive emperor named Luke ruled the Cool Cache Land. Luke decreed that the CCL would always have the newest and best of everything thought of and built by man. So when he learned of the Great Wall of China and the American Space Program, he just had to “branch-out” and have one also. Unfortunately his dreams never quite materialized and all that remains of the CCL Great Wall and his space program are the stack of rocks and the nosecone which can still be seen a short distances to the southeast from the above coordinates.
The environment in which the cache resides is extremely fragile so please handle with care and be sure to return the cache exactly as you found it to preserve the caching experience of the next seeker.
The coordinates may fluctuate due to tree cover but should bring you to within 10 feet of the cache once the GPS settles down.
Bring your own writing tool and please only initial and date the log.
