Geocache Description:

A magnetic micro cache hidden near the Historic Walt Whitman Birthplace in Melville.



Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Walt Whitman's Birthplace still stands peacefully on the same spot where it was built in 1819 by the poet's father, Walter Whitman.

You do not have to enter the grounds of the home to retrieve the cache although if you have the time, I highly recommend visiting and experiencing this amazing place.

This is also the starting point of the Walt Whitman Trail, which winds through nearby West Hills County Park for a total distance of 8 miles.
