Stanhope Saunter - #1. No Butts Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to recent logs or logged into geocaching.com for some time I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

Stanhope Saunter is a series of 6 straightforward caches on a circular route around the riverside starting and ending in the market place in Stanhope. Parking can be found along the Front Street in the Market Place and also at the Dales Centre, which is a little way along the main road out of the market place on the right.
The walk is easy and covers around 5 miles, there are a number of gates and styles and there is a railway line to cross, it is not in full time use and is little used but please take care and make sure it is clear before crossing the track. The walk is dog friendly but please keep on leads where appropriate as there may be “sheeps and moo cows” about. All of the caches are on or very close to the main pathway you will not need to climb walls fences etc except by the proper means the difficulty will be avoiding muggles.

The Stanhope Saunter route is best tackled in the following order:
#1 No Butts
#2 It’s a Steel
#3 Out of Site
#4 Thank U not!
#5 Caution Roman Crossing
#6 All creatures great and wall (micro)

We’ve given some directions to keep you on track but the route is well used and fairly obvious.

#1 - No Butts
To start the route leave the Market place and head down passed the Packhorse Inn towards the Butts follow the road and turn left before you reach the river, this will get you heading in the right direction.

Contents: radio, pens, dominos, key ring, stickers, Pluto-TB
