This is the first of our historical tours of Hartselle, Alabama.

Each stage will present clues for you to find information to complete the coordinates for the next stage.

Sometimes you will acquire the needed data from the GPS location otherwise you will use the following Key:

A   B   C   D   E   F   G   H   I   J   K   L   M   N
2   7   3   8   1   9   0   4   5   3   0   6   4   0

O   P   Q   R   S   T   U   V   W   X   Y   Z
9   6   8   2   7   3   9   2   4   1   6   2

You will be given the North degree and first 2 digits of the coordinate, the West degree and first 2 digits of the coordinate. You are to solve the clues to get the last digits for each coordinate.

An example of solving this clue: N 34 29._ _ _     and     W 086 55. _ _ _

The clue gives you the name David Wells

A. Clue: 2nd letter of second name = 1

B. Clue: 3rd letter of last name = 6

C. Clue: 5th letter of first name = 8

D. Clue: 1st letter of last name = 4

E. Clue: 2nd letter of first name = 2

F. Clue: 4th letter of first name = 6

The results would be N 34 29.168 and W 086 55.426

The difficulty level is 5 because the acquisition of the data to answer the clues is of utmost importance, otherwise you won’t get to the correct place to acquire the next set of coordinates.

NOTE: because some of the stages are near schools and churches, please respect the usual hours they are busy. Search only after 3:30 p.m. and on weekends around schools and other times when worship services are not being held. IF there is any event being held, do not attempt to acquire the needed data. Wait until there aren’t any muggles around!

GOOD LUCK and HAPPY HUNTING!
