Believe it or not!
The Portsmouth Daily times wrote on June 17, 1999 that “the legend of Bigfoot has been told for centuries, but some local residents have come forward to say it is more than a legend. Some area residents claim to have seen Bigfoot, smelled Bigfoot and even been lifted off the ground by Bigfoot!”
The Ohio Bigfoot Research Team says it has investigated eyewitness accounts of reported encounters with Bigfoot like creatures in this area of foot hills that border the Appalachian Mountains and the Ohio River. Bigfoot reports have been generated within these localities for a number of years, dating back to an unusual instance in 1869, in which a father and daughter pair encountered a frightening, gorilla-like "wild-man" near Gallipolis, Ohio on the Ohio River.
The following is an excerpt from the Bigfoot Research Organization from the general area of the Industrial Parkway and US 23 near a former landfill that runs adjacent to SR 67:

LOCATION DETAILS: Start at Raceland Super Quik "Gas Station" on US23 and head towards Greenup until you get to the caution lights on the highway. Then you will see on the left about 1 mile up the road a set of gates on the left. It used to be Addingtons landfill. But now it is abandoned and there is just a lot of forest back there now. After you go through the gates you stay on the main road which is blacktopped and you stay on that road for about 2 miles and then it turns to gravel. Follow the gravel road until you come to another set of gates and go through them. Stay on the gravel for about 2 miles then there is a dirt road to the left follow it to pine thicket and then you go up this real steep hill and that is the area where i saw Bigfoot.
NEAREST TOWN: Greenup, KY
NEAREST ROAD: US23
OBSERVED: well it was really dark outside and I could not make a good visual of the creature but it was unlike anything I have ever seen before in my life. If was about 8ft tall and I would say about 450 pounds. it was walking like a human kinda but not exactly. It was very hairy looking and was making some weird grunting noises. Then when it saw me I about soiled my pants, I was so scared I thought about running but I was too scared to run so I stayed and then it left I was so relieved. There is such a thing as Bigfoot I took pictures of his foot prints in the mud and i think that they should send researchers out here to look for it I believe that you will find it actually I promise you will find it.
OTHER WITNESSES: He was down at the bottom of the hill working on the 4 wheeler and I was at the top of the hill using the bathroom.
TIME AND CONDITIONS: It was dark outside and kinda wet on the ground it had just rained the other day. All I remember about the weather it was very cloudy.
ENVIRONMENT: Pine forest and then the thing that stands out is this really big hill you must go up to get to where I saw Bigfoot.

Follow-up investigation report:
The encounter left this young man shaken. He had never given Bigfoot any thought at all. He now says his whole world has changed. Footprint photos remain in his possession. He will share them with us when we can get an investigator into the area.
There have been numerous accounts of Bigfoot Sightings from the Southern Ohio and Northern Kentucky area on internet sites such as ‘The American Bigfoot Society”, “The Ohio Bigfoot Research Team Website”, and “The Sasquatch Sightings Database”. They say Bigfoot reports represent a legitimate mystery worthy of serious scientific scrutiny. The reports and witnesses, sometimes very credible, are not taken seriously by the appropriate wildlife officers and scientific communities.
Bigfoot researchers admit that many aspects of the ongoing accounts regarding a Bigfoot-type creature remains unsubstantiated. The stories are largely relegated to 'rumor and hearsay', although some of the reports have been documented and investigated by researchers. The researchers say that no substantial evidence is known to support the eyewitness data. Thus, the mystery continues.
