Clean Up Canberra 2007 Cache In Trash Out® Event
Tealby: I think I could rate this CITO event as a resounding success. 21 registered cachers (including some teams) collected around 31 bags of rubbish. Well done to all participants. Canberra is now a bit cleaner for our efforts.

Sunday 4th March is not just 2006 ACT Cache of the Year Day. It is also Clean Up Australia Day. To find out more about activities scheduled in your neighbourhood, go to the website listed above.
In addition to Clean Up Australia Day, there is also a Schools Clean Up Day on Friday 2 March and a Business Clean Up Day on Tuesday 27 February.
On my caching adventures I have often come across cache sites that have been spoiled by the quantity of trash lying around the general vicinity. On many occasions I have been ill prepared to deal with the rubbish, so have not been able to remove it.
Here is your chance to leave the Cache of the Year site cleaner than when you arrived. To log the “find” you need to remove at least one supermarket bag full of rubbish and dispose of it appropriately. While you should (of course) clean up after yourself you can’t just count any rubbish generated at the Cache of the Year event!!
You will need to BYO suitable protective clothing – in particular, heavy duty gloves. I suggest you use a bucket to collect the rubbish, but if you do use a supermarket bag, consider using 3 bags inside each other to provide extra protection against any sharp items. If you are doing this with children, make sure they are suitably supervised to guard against possible needle stick injuries etc.
The 2006 ACT Cache of the Year starts at 12.30pm, but I won’t be there until 2pm. I will bring instructions with all the details about the Clean Up Canberra 2007 CITO event, so please stay around until after I arrive to get the necessary information & registration form. I will also have details about a few other new caches I have placed but not yet published.
