Cache Sleuth: This cache hasn't been being found very often - plus a recent finder has reported damage to the contents - so I have decided it's time to take it down. Thanks to all those who have found it over the 13 years it was active!

Geocache Description:

The third in my series of numismatic themed caches. This one is dedicated to world paper money collecting, hidden on a high point between U.S. Route 19 and the Salmon Run access road at Summersville Lake, just south of Summersville, West Virginia.

From U.S. 19, turn onto Airport Road. If traveling north, this is a left-hand turn; if coming south, turn right. Then make another immediate left-hand turn onto the Salmon Run access road. Go about one mile until you come to the main parking area. The way to the cache is about .20 mile on foot from there. The best way to begin is to go past the red gate that is beside the restrooms on your left as you face the boat launching ramp. After a short distance, you will see a bench on the left (just before you get to the water when the lake is at summer pool) and a path that goes uphill. Take this path and just follow your GPS unit from there. You will either be following an old, overgrown jeep trail or bushwhacking the rest of the way.

Even though it is closer, do not attempt to go for this cache by coming in from the U.S. 19 side! The state police take a dim view of anyone parking along this busy highway unless it is an emergency. You will also encounter a 5 foot high wildlife fence with barbed wire on the top if you attempt to go in that way.

Cache is in a 1.2 quart Lock & Lock container. Initial contents are: 25 assorted pieces of foreign paper money, a Duke Nukem keyring, Christian stick-on reflector, toy truck, magnet, seashell, and a log book with pencil & pen. If you want to trade paper money, please take only as many pieces as you leave.
