Geocache Description:

A micro cache in a busy place. The original hide was in a wall in the park but the whole area was re-developed in 2018 and the original wall was demolished. So I found a new place, then had to move it, then again in 2019 to what I thought was safe. However in July 2022 British Gas workman obliterated the site and now I have replaced it almost back where it was originally!!!

As an ageing Pink Floyd fan when I saw this location I cried out “Ummagumma!! I’ve ‘High Hopes’ that if I ‘Run Like Hell’ I’ll be in ‘Time’ to set a cache with some ‘Money’ in a great spot so if ‘There’s Anybody Out There’ ‘On The Run’, they’ll ‘Wish They Were Here’ and be first to collect the cash / cache”
Satisfied I’d found the site for my first cache that will never be 'Obscured by Clouds' or attacked by 'Pigs', I was ‘Comfortably Numb’. Oh and it's not 'A Saucerful of Secrets' either.

The co-ordinates above will take you to a Supermarket which helped our family survive on £40 per week in the early 1980’s.
There is a red route nearby so watch out where you park!
You used to be able to park for an hour for free and still can do so but as from the summer of 2013 you have to collect a ticket to display in your car (& pay a little if you want to stop longer than 1 hour.)

You may be able to park in front of the Supermarket but wherever you do eventually park, go to the ticket machine outside Aldi closest to the Stratford Road (i.e. on the opposite side of the road from Shirley Methodist Church) and note down the following.

The Machine is Number ABC
The penalty for not displaying a valid ticket is up to £ DE
There is no charge after F pm
There are G circular blue buttons on the front of the machine and H yellow buttons.

This will give you the co-ordinates for the nearby cache, which is near a bridge that doesn’t span anything at N52 degrees 24 . (F) (B+E+F) (F+2H) W 001 degrees 49 . (D-H) (C+G+H) (D-A)

The cache is a 35mm film canister hidden by a brick and is no longer in a wall.

To encourage early finders the original cache initially contained a selection of coins of the realm - I was naive in those days and thought people needed to be encouraged to find new caches!!

Check out trackable 7VE07G which was "in" the cache for some time!
