Open Forest is a family oriented outdoor activity day held each first Saturday in March, but you can find this cache anytime. If you are here that day, enjoy the activities. Everybody is welcome. Just sign in so they will get a 'head' count. No admission price. The phone number on the sign is for if you wish to reserve the pavillion. The idea of open forest is to get people outside and enjoying what nature has provided. Hiking is great. Cross-country skiing is popular as well as horse riding and hiking. The ammo can is the one we won at the CVSP Winter Geocaching Gathering. We added a few items and some WINNER necklaces for the first 10 children to get to the cache. There is a lean to and a beaver dam a bit farther up the trail. You may see deer and small animals and perhaps a bear. The other side has well-kept trails but you will be mostly on the wild side. Benches have been provided in several places and there is an amphitheater along the blue trail that you may find useful. Enjoy this area.
