Geocache Description:

This geocache will introduce you to the Mount Archer Woods Property.

The cache is located "among the ruins" of an early eighteenth century farmstead. These stone ruins are the remnants of houses, barns, sheds, and penning areas as well as pasture stone walls. The foundation of the main farm house as well as its chimney pile can still be seen. This is a significant archaeological site. Take your time and explore it. Please do not disturb the areas or remove any artifacts except what's in the cache.

You may wish to combine your trek with the "Mount Archer Meadows" geocache, located just off the Red Trail in the southwest corner of the property.

Directions to trailhead:
(You will want to refer to the Mount Archer Woods Map in the uploaded photo area below.)

From the intersection of Mt. Archer Road and Route 156, go about one mile to the top of the steep hill. The entrance kiosk and parking lot for Mt. Archer Woods is on the left at the stone pillar. From Hadlyme Four Corners, go southeast on Brush Hill Road for about two miles to the intersection with Tantomorantum and Mt. Archer roads. Continue on Mt. Archer Road up the hill for two thirds of a mile to the entrance on the right at the stone pillar. Park off the road in the small lot.
