Geocache Description:

The Cache ia a Ammo Box located inside Harrison-Caver Park.
Cache placed with permission from Aiken County Parks and Recreation. Thanks to Brian Sanders (Director of Recreation in Aiken County

The site were Harrision-Caver Park is located was once small ponds were mining was done in the 50's and early 60's and when this operation was shudown the county
used this as a landfill for several years to fill in the area.

Harrision-Caver Park was created in 1974 on 38 acres on land that was deeded to Aiken County by United Merchants and Manufacting Company

Today the park is used as many as a walking track with about 5/8 mile paved track around the park, adult and youth softball. Soccer wih ages 4 and up enjoy the park.
The Director of the park also puts together many summer programs for all the kids in the Midland Valley area.

The park was named after two men that came to the Midland Valley area and made a difference of many men and women lives living in Midland Valley Area.

John Thomas Harrision, Sr.

Born in Columbia South Carolina 02/23/1922, John graduated from Newberry College with a BS Degree and Masters from
the University of South Carolina. John Harrision became the Recreational Director from June 1952 until United Manufacting Company
closed the recreation park in 1963 which was located at Clearwater pond on US Highway 1, Clearwater.

He formed programs such as Pee Wee Football. Basketball, Softball, and Baseball for all of the youth in the Valley Area Mr. Harrision would pick up the children in the company bus daily.

Mr. Harrision Died on 7/28/1982

Henry C "Hank" Caver

Born in Augusta Ga 4/18/1919, He graduated from Presbyterian College with a A.B.S degree and a Masters from South Carolina State.

Quarterback Hank Caver of Augusta, Ga., passed his way to the top of the national heap in 1946, being named
Little-All-American in 1946 while playing at Presbyterian College.

Hank Caver became Head Coach at Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School in 1947-1950, Coach Caver returned to LBC in 1954 as assistant coach
for 2 years under Coach Clyde Parrish and the team winning the Lower State Championship in 1954, Coach Caver became Head Coach guided the team to another Lower State Championship in 1957 beating Barnwell High School. His teams were Conference chamions and Runner-up 1960 and 1962.

He returned to LBC for a third time in 1975 and coached football and Golf until his retirement in 1978
