The Cougar Mountain Chameleon:
This semi-evolved species is definitely not without it's weaknesses. A recessive gene leaves many CMC's unable to blend into their natural environment. Luckily for these brightly clad border chameleons, the CMC has no natural predators due to their sandy-jellyish texture and reported "ear-wax" flavor. The coyotes won't even touch them. Their only natural threat is torrential rain. Their skin has little defense against moisture, they are often seen crouching under rocks in a vain effort to stay dry. Darwin would be disappointed.
Special-ops chameleons, who retain the ability to blend into their surroundings, have been known to climb to higher locations, burrow deep under rocks, and/or mess up GPS signals in an effort to remain concealed. Few people have ever actually seen a special-ops chameleon in the wild. Some believe they may not actually exist. I believe.
