Geocache Description:

Garner State Park is a Texas hill country tradition. It is Texas’ most popular state park for camping and is known throughout Texas for “The Dance”. The dances were started in the 1930’s by the men at the CCC camp while they were building the park. The dances continue today during summer evenings at the outdoor pavilion overlooking the Rio Frio. Couples that met at the dance brought their children who now bring their children insuring that the tradition continues.

This cache is in three parts. All parts are located in Garner State Park. Park in the headquarters parking lot. Take the 1/3 mile loop Nature Trail starting on the north side of the parking lot. (You may want to take this hike while a member of your party registers for your campsite.) The small cache is located about ½ way around the loop in a tree a few yards off this level trail through mesquite, cedars and a few magnificent live oaks. Coordinates for the second hide are located in this cache.

The second cache is a micro cache that contains the coordinates for the third cache. The third cache is a medium sized regular cache. Both of these caches are within 150 feet of parking. During the summer and at other times of the year there are many, many muggles in the park. Stealth may be your biggest challenge in locating and replacing the caches. As usual watch out for thorns, stickers and those pesky critters that are always present in Texas.
