Geocache Description:

A cat-themed cache in Haines Canyon Park. Parking is close by. There is a short walk down a kind of steep hill so be careful. Park is open dawn to dusk.

Small green plastic container. Starting contents include a cat/dog figurine, cat pencil topper, butterfly eraser (what cat doesn't like butterflies?), and a George Washington $1 coin.

This cache was adopted by KATSENIS on January 14, 2008. Thanks to QSparrow for putting out the all call for someone to adopt these great cache locations.

On January 1, 1934, the Crescenta and Tujunga valleys were visited by a dangerous storm yielding 17.5 inches of rain and resulting in a deadly flood and mudslide. At least 40 people died, and 400 homes were damaged or destroyed. These days the canyons in the area and houses below benefit from the placement of concrete channels to divert the rainwater. This cache lies near one of these channels.
