Geocache Description:

The hiding place for this cache is intended to be in the spirit of spies, secret chambers and hidden messages; hence the difficulty rating!

Shipley Zero Station is an abandoned hideout of the Special Duties Organisation whose role involved radio communication and spying in the event of a German invasion of the UK in the Second World War. The hideout is located on the east side of a bend in a public footpath, 250 yards south from the A272 at its junction with Dragons Lane. Limited parking is available at the top of this path.

THe cache is not on the station itself - so you don't fall down the holes when searching! - but is very close by.

More details of SZS can be found at this link -Shipley Zero Station - and it is well worth having a look at this before you set out so you can make the most of your visit to the actual site. A strong torch will be useful to allow you to peer into the first chamber through the small hole to the East of the site. Don't forget to look out for the tree with the cable channel gouged into its bark.

If you carry on along the footpath you can enjoy a short circular walk taking in Shipley Windmill and a couple of nearby caches.
