Spring Peepers
The waters at the upper end of Burches
Run
Lake
have
been
visited each and every year by thousands of
Spring Peepers, who
migrated to the still waters from the surrounding
valley.
There were so many hopping about; one had to be cautious when
walking along!
Though, there will still be some vernal pools, or big “puddles”,
which appear with the wet spring weather, much of their spring
breeding habitat, here, may have been lost due to the breach of the
dam.
We know they are, still, present in the surrounding area. We can
hear them peeping
!
However, we are curious to learn how many Spring Peepers will, now,
return to Burches Run each spring.
So, we’d appreciate your help!
