On the Haunted Hills Road heading out of town is the Yallourn
Cemetery.
Now, another unconfirmed story about the area from my dad... :-)
Haunted Hills Road got its name not by ghosts being seen, or the
fact that the cemetery is on the road. The story goes that when
cows were moved between paddocks using the road, the cows used to
get pretty spooked. Apparently the coal deposits in the area give
the road a different sound that the cows don't like while walking
on it, and the road ended up with a rather cool name from scared
cows.
As I said, I haven't checked this story to be fact as this kind
of information isn't around on the internet, but as dad has lived
here nearly his whole life, I'll give him some credit.
But if you live in the area and
happen to know otherwise, give me a yell.
Now, about the cache. It's a micro, and there's no need to go
into the actual cemetery itself, so this can be done at all hours.
If you do it during the night, watch out for people in the nearby
house, as I'm sure it's their job to watch out for people sneaking
around up to no good. And as the area is a cemetary, please keep
that in mind and respect it for what it is.
If there's any issues while I'm not in town, the 'geocoads' will
be conducting any maintenance. But I may be back to visit it in a
week or so, as the paint on the cache didn't match, so it might get
a new coat soon.
