Geocache Description:

Earth Day Event: 10am to 1pm
GGA meeting: 2pm to 4pm

Two events on April 21st for the price of one. Such a deal.
Elachee Nature Science Center is hosting an Earth Day Event from 10 am to 1pm. We'll be supporting the event with a table with handouts on geocaching, we'll have a temporary cache hidden for people to hunt, and in general win some converts over to our sport.

Elachee was the site of our last GGA Challenge Event and the Earth Day Event will be in the same pavilion at the south end of the Elachee Nature Center. Please come join us. Elachee has done a lot to support geocaching, let's return the favor.

Our GGA monthly meeting will, by a happy coincidence, be in the same pavilion starting at 2pm. Thanks Elachee, for making the facility available to us.

Please bring your portable/folding chairs to this event as there is limited seating around the perimeter of the pavilion.

Spring has sprung and folks are out trekking around, so this is the perfect time to bring up...

‘The Hiking Stick’

Have you considered where you should hang your ‘BASKET’?

Joebids will give a brief presentation on the Hiking Stick and afterwards you will know where to put it. We’ll also select from a few brought to the meeting to highlight and to talk about.

We’re encouraging everyone to bring their hiking sticks to this month’s GGA meeting and show them off. Based on preliminary polls, it looks like there should be quite a showing to say the least. Bring that hiking stick you won at some event or the one you made when you were a kid. It might be that really cool high-tech one you found in the store or the one you found in the woods. It doesn’t matter. Let’s have a big diverse showing of shapes, sizes & types and see the uses of each and the materials they are made of.

What category will yours fit in? Will it be the tallest or the shortest one there? Or will it be the most crooked or even the most natural one? If none of the above or you don’t have one, then make one! Let’s see who brings the one with the most medallions and decorations or maybe that one purposely made so ugly that no one would even think about stealing it.

Bring your Hiking Stick to share with everyone and to perhaps get new ideas for your current or next Hiking Stick project.

We'll have other activities at our meeting, stay tuned for further details.

There are two fine BBQ restaurants 2 or 3 miles away in nearby Oakwood. Why not come for Earth Day, have a nice lunch, then return for the GGA Meeting? Or spend an hour hunting some of the nearby geocaches....
