This cache is located in the Holmes County State Park – near the
lake. The Cache is if filled with the regular caching items –
logbook, CITO containers, kids toys etc. The area around the cache
is, at the moment lightly vegetated, also hilly. This cache would
be best found either early spring, late fall and winter. Park in
front of the Skating rink and enjoy a stroll on the lake levee.
The Holmes County State Park has two lakes. The smaller one use to
be the swimming hole where all the locals went to cool off. The
larger lake is used for fishing and again the locals went to water
ski at one time. Holmes County State Park has one unique fixture
that no other state park has, to my knowledge, a skating rink.
Holmes County State Park is the host of an annual pilgrimage for my
family with people coming from Missouri and Wisconsin the second
weekend of August. We recently changed the date to an earlier date,
the third weekend of July. So, if you plan it right, drop by and
have Sunday dinner with us because we usually have plenty. Make
sure you let us know who you are and a few of us will go caching
with you.
