In the late Mesocacheoic Period when the Mount Lofty Ranges were part of the sea floor, due to the unique climatic and sub marine terrain conditions present in the area there were a number of species inhabiting the region that were unique to this part of the world. Over the ensuing years due to the massive forces at work in the area the range was lifted and the unique wildlife was all but made extinct due to the changing environment. There was however one species of fish that managed to adapt to the changing conditions and survives to this day in one small pocket in the mount lofty ranges. The adaptability of this fish will be appreciated when you arrive at the cache site and see the environment as it now stands.
All of the equipment required to retrieve the cache is located at the site, and if you are successful you will be able to see one of these unique fish in their natural habitat. Early April is the most likely time of year to spot them due to the increase in activity related to their breeding cycles, but you may still be lucky throughout the rest of the year if you are patient and observant.
Please be very careful not to disturb the area so this experience will be available for future generations, and if you catch any fish while at this location please give them a kiss and gently return to their natural environment. Other wildlife has also been noted in the area, it is not uncommon to see both of the animals on the Australian Coat of Arms wandering around GZ.
While this location is usually fairly peaceful with only the odd mountain biker to disturb the peace, there are certain times of the year when events are held here. You may be able to find the cache but the additional muggle population at these times may make it very problematic to retrieve, and replace the cache.
