The Battle of Porcupine Ridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TOMTEC: I was hiking along the Palgrave trail with Elf planning out another cache hide. We figured it was time to archive this one to make room for our next hide in the area. Hope everyone enjoyed their visit! The container has been removed, and I'm archiving the cache listing.

Geocache Description:

Located North East of Sleswick, Ontario along the Palgrave side trail section of the Bruce Trail.
Cache elevation: 321m

This cache was originally hidden to help promote GCZ68A COG Spring Fling III - The Trilogy. As the event is now over, it has been changed back to a regular hide.

The cache is a green painted 1L Lock & Lock container hidden 50m off the main trail between The Gore Road and Centreville Creek Road. If you can find the correct deer trail, you can actually follow it right to the cache. Parking along Centreville Creek Road is not advised due to a blind curve and very minimal room on the shoulder.

Quite often while biking or hiking this section of trail, you will encounter the local porcupine population. You can see evidence of their presence by the bark stripped off many of the pine trees in the area. If caching with a canine companion, you may want to keep an eye on them, or they may return with some decorative quills! Unfortunately, Sadie doesn't get along very well with other small animals; and the confrontation, however brief, was fatal for the fully grown adult quill pig. (Not to be confused with the Juice Pig, who is still alive and kicking... atleast for now!)

NOTES:
  1. Winter friendly, though it will be under some snow.
  2. Night raid friendly.
  3. Family friendly, but watch out for bikes and horses along the trail.
