PLEASE ACCESS THIS CACHE VIA THE BUTLER-FREEPORT TRAIL ONLY!
This cache (ammo can) is located along the Butler-Freeport Trail which is part of the Rails-to-Trails trail system.The cache is located nearer the Freeport end of the trail so parking at the Laneville trailhead is recommended. The trail has a crushed limestone surface with a very slight grade, making for an easy walk or bike ride.
For those not familiar with the area, the Freeport section of this rail trail extends from Laneville, north to the Rt.28 Expressway bridge, approximately 3 miles. The trail parallels Buffalo Creek, placing both in the Audubon Society's "Buffalo Valley Important Bird Area" giving trail users abundant opportunity to see wildlife. So, on the way to the cache be sure to keep your eyes and ears open, you never know what you might catch a glimpse of………spying a Pileated Woodpecker, Bald Eagle, Great Blue Heron or wild Turkeys, as well as four legged critters is not uncommon.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS TO LANEVILLE:
*Exit 17 on Rt.28 Expressway then South Rt.356 for approximately 1½ miles. At the bottom of the hill before the 'Yield' sign bear left to 'Stop' sign. Turn left to enter Laneville.
*For others, make an extreme right after crossing the two lane bridge (Rt.128) by Devereaux Chevrolet in Freeport.
When leaving Laneville be advised there is NO LEFT TURN!
RIGHT TURN - North Rt.356 to Rt.28
STRAIGHT - South Rt.128; South Rt.356; Freeport
