The intention here was a kind of cool little historical sidetrip
off of the highway 16. At this location there is a good put-in on
the Nechako River for canoes/boats. There used to be a ferry
crossing over to the Ness Lake area. Only an overhead cable
remains.
The cache was originally placed to be a part of Blitz 07.
It is your standard ammo can fare. It is located within 13 km. of
highway 16., the first 6.5 of which are paved. The remainder is a
decent gravel road. The road stops being paved past one of the
major sawmills (Canfor Isle Pierre) in the area. You will notice
the logyard, which is FULL of mountain pine beetle killed trees.
Keep going past the mill and you will eventually pass through the
historic settlement of Isle Pierre. Industrial traffic could be a
hazard on this road, particularly chip trucks on the paved part and
logging trucks between the mill and the junction of the Bobtail
FSR, so be wary at all times. Use headlights. And enjoy!
