Jordan Scrub Sanctuary #3 Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

MommyFinder: This series had a good run, but I've had to replace each of them a few times because of fires and heavy machinery/clearing. Time to archive. Thank you to all who found them!

Geocache Description:

This is now a 2-stage find, instead of 3. Please see updates below description!

This 354-acre sanctuary encompasses a variety of habitat types including seasonal marshes, scrubby flatwoods, and lakes. While hiking through these diverse habitats, bald eagles can be spotted fishing for lunch in the lake and local scrub-jays seen foraging in the scrubby flatwoods. Recreational planning for the Jordan Scrub Sanctuary recently commenced—additional trails are planned for future development. Trails are open: October-April: 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., May-September: 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. No pets, smoking, alcohol or motorized vehicles. Do not feed, disturb, or harm wildlife.

From I-95 take SR-514 Exit-173 east onto Malabar Road. Go 3.6 miles and turn right on Marie Street (3 miles past the fire station) and go 0.9 miles. When the paved road ends, continue on the dirt road to the Sanctuary gate and kiosk. While on the dirt road you will see a "No Trespassing" sign. This sign refers to the private property east of the road, NOT to the dirt road. There is very limited parking at the park entrance, only room for a couple of cars. Permission was obtained from the EEL to place this cache.

This is the third of three caches placed in this park today. It is a 50cal ammo can. Please rehide well for others to enjoy. From the sanctuary entrance, take the trail heading south. It is approximately a one mile walk to this cache. The listed coordinates are approximate for the parking area. You have to find Jordan Scrub Sanctuary caches #1 and #2 to get the coordinates for this cache! Good luck and have fun!

Update 6-13-2008: I replaced the burned up container with a nice new one, filled with goodies. My original hiding place no longer exists, so I had to find a new one nearby. Because of this, previous finders may log a find on this cache again! Of course, you'll have to revisit #1 and #2 to get the new coords!

Update 4-18-2015: These 3 Jordan Scrub Sanctuary caches were originally intended to be hiking caches, but #2 and #3 become major bushwhacking through palmettos and thorny vines caches. Because of that, #2 has been disabled, and #3 has been moved to a location just off the main trail - no more bushwhacking. #1 now contains both the north and west coordinates for #3.
