Geocache Description:

This is a 2 stage multicache with the first stage being a microcache which will give you the coordinates to find the final cache. The main cache is located on the top of a hill just north of the larger hill called Mine Hill. The terrain is mainly a well defined dirt path to rough dirt road with a moderate climb uphill. The overall length of the hike is less than a kilometer to the main cache and if you find the caches quickly, it will take an average person about an hour to complete round trip.

For this cache, drive up the Toovey Rd area and park at N 49 52.867 and W 119 21.822 by a mailbox. Look north towards the power lines and you should see a trail. This trail heads north a short distance then takes you uphill towards the microcache of stage one. We have fixed the cache. The new first stage coordinates are N 49 52.903 and W 119 21.311. Sorry about the move but the first stage was buried under a mountain of dirt from the development going on up there. If you choose not to follow the path, watch out for burr bushes. It is meant to be a family cache where you can take your young kids along. My son, who is almost 5 years old, helped make this cache and we walked the overall trip in less than one hour. The micro is a film canister that contains the coordinates to the main cache. Follow the fence line until you get around the mountain of dirt and see a gate opening and another trail leading north up the hill. This should fix the temporary problem due to the development. The microcache is mainly to keep the cachers on the right trail without doing any bushwacking or trespassing. The main cache has an "Animals" theme. You are looking for a green ammo box and it contains plastic animals and other animal related objects. If you do not wish to trade, just enjoy the view. If you have time, check out the 3 other caches in the area to the south on the taller hill. All the caches can be made into a loop and can be done in 2 hours or so. The terrain is roughly the same but has a higher climb to the top of Mine Hill. Just be careful of some private property on the south side of the main hill. The cache can be done all year but is more difficult in the winter due to snow. We have done it this past winter and took our sleds to slide down in the snow. The caches also can be reached by bike, motorbike, quad, or a good 4x4 but walking is the way to go. If anyone knows the name of this smaller hill, let us know and we will post it.
