The place:
The Nagy-Koncsúr (640m) is a peak on the south side of the related mountains of the west-Mátra. The erosion has formed a clearing on the andesite volcanic cone, offering a wonderful panorama to the tourists climbing here. Para-gliders have also discovered this place but use it seldom to start due to the wind rarely blowing from east. The red-signed road leads you to the north through huge trees from the Harasztos-peak. The highest point during this journey is the Múzsla-top at 802 meters above the sea level. The north-end is the Nyikom, also hosting a geocache. If you want to hunt that cache as well, follow the red sign to the Nyikom-meadow. It that point, the road forks into three branches, but none of them leads to the cache. On top of that, the only way to get through the thicket bushes is to follow the yellow path in the forest.
How to approach:
The red-signed road starts from the Szurdokpüspöki railway station. Those how come by car can leave their vehicles in the parking of the Takarékszövetkezet (a bank). On the way to the hill, the green-signed road joins the red one just before the steep uphill part starts. Follow the red sign to get to the cache. The first peak is the Horka (506 meters), then the Kis-Koncsúr (595), the Nagy-Koncsúr follows (640), there you'll find the cache.
The cache:
The box is hidden in a meadow sloping towards east, only a few trees and some rocks offer appropriate hideaways. It is easy to find using a GPS. We paid attention to avoid stinging bushes, you don’t need to look at those. Based on the above you can even find it by excluding all other places. The box is an 18 centimeters diameter, 8 centimeters deep container. It can’t hold huge presents, please don’t try to fit a piano or a color TV set in it. There are regular extreme hiker events on the tourist roads around. When such events take place, hundreds of people may cross this meadow. The box is at a location where the hikers won’t disturb you.
