The
Angry Beavers cartoon characters lost their home on Nickelodeon and
have been roaming from creek to stream in search of a new lodge.
Fidgety high strung Daggett wanted to build a little dam as far
upstream as possible. His brother Norbert says he can’t relax in
such a small place and wants a much larger lodge.
Beaver
Creek flows through Lower Paxton Township. Daggett sees this on a
map and says, “what a great place to set up our new home? It’s even
named after us!” The Angry Beavers actually agreed on something and
decided to make their way to Beaver Creek just outside of
Harrisburg, PA.

Way
back when, my dad taught me to fish in this stream. In some places
it’s a healthy run and in other spots it seems to be just a
trickle. The creek follows along Nye's Road for much of its length.
Nye's Road used to be a sleepy little country road safe for
bicycling and walking. Unfortunately it’s turned into a busy yuppy
thoroughfare connecting bedroom neighborhoods to offices, soccer
games and clearance sales.
Well,
two new neighbors have moved to the area and it’s your job to find
their homes. Daggett’s small home (a micro) is located at the
posted coordinates. Find Daggett’s tiny lodge and you’ll find
coordinates to a second location.
UPDATE
AS OF 01/17/08 - You no longer need to find Dagget's micro.
Road maintenance has been done near his home and it is now too
dangerous to search there and parking is almost impossible. This
cache now begins at Stage 2. The final remains the same, but the
posted coordinates are now for the original Stage 2. There you’ll
find 4 sets of coordinates. Three of the four sets will take you on
lovely, but cache-less, cross country outings. Just 1 set of
coordinates is correct and will take you to Norbert’s palatial new
beaver lodge (an ammo can).
Stage 1
is an annoying micro and the difficulty level really kicks in when
you have to decide which way to go from Stage 2. Knowledge of
beavers and the area will be a big help in making your Stage 2
decision. Taking the coordinates home to view in Google Earth is
allowed, but won’t be nearly as fun as thinking on your feet. When
you arrive at the right place for Stage 3 you’ll understand the
terrain rating - it's a mess. Use your
best judgement for parking at all 3 locations.
The
cache is starting off with a cool geocoin pin for the FTF and
Nathanzip's Godzilla TB to move along. Enjoy!
