Geocache Description:

The cache is located in the “upper” Dumble in the village of Lambley (upper according to Gedling Borough Council).

Dumble is a regional word used to refer to a wood lined stream often in a small, steep sided valley. In other areas of the country the word “Dumble” is sometimes used to describe wooded marshes and moorland valleys. Lambley has two Dumbles locally known as “Top Dumble” and “Bottom Dumble” which one is which depends on which side of the village you come from. If you are from the North side of the village then the South Dumble is the “Top Dumble” and if you are from the South side of the village the North Dumble is the “Top Dumble” ! confusing, you bet!.
The parking co-ordinates are for a small housing estate where there is a limited amount of on-street parking (don’t try it on a Sunday morning). From there you have a choice of two paths up the Dumble (up one and then down the other via the bridge near the cache is recommended). One of these paths (adjacent to the “Woodlark”) starts as a small service track to some houses, please do not try to drive up this track as there is no parking and no turning. There is a convenient path and bridge at the back of the Woodlark which joins the two footpaths together forming a circular walk.
The path can become very overgrown with nettles etc in spring/summer.
