This cache is hidden near Ambresbury Banks; an Iron Age plateau fort in Epping Forest. It is easily accessible from the closest parking which is a lay by at N51.41.026 E0.04.593. Local legend says that this site was where Queen Boudicca made her last stand against the Roman army in AD61. When she was defeated she is said to have poisoned herself and her two daughters here. The fort covers 4.5 hectares and has its own stream which rises inside the fort. Impressive banks and ditch can still be seen. We saw a fox near the fort on our way to place the cache. The cache is an ammo box with plenty of room for swaps, and is only a short walk from the suggested parking. There may be GPS problems in summer when there is more tree cover, but was fine when cache was placed.
