Geocache Description:

Sky Hill Series is a five-stage, multi-logging, 2 mile-ish, looping, backwoods adventure through a little known section of Bridgewater. SHS-Ridgeline is the first of the five.

The series journey includes some steep bushwhacking, scenic vistas, a gentle wide trail, an obscure valley, open woodland trekking and varied hides. Each stage is a log-able find and has the coordinates for the next. Bring a pen/pencil for some. The terrain rating is for each separate leg, the combined terrain is a solid 3+ for bushwhacking, steepness and length.

We have been eyeing this large, unnamed, green acres tract, set at the end of the Watchung Mountain’s first ridge, for some time. It is surrounded by private property and major highways and was difficult to find a legal /safe way in. We had fun “discovering” this hidden parcel and hope you will too.

Please park at the end of Sky Hill Rd, and enter straight in, heading just above the water tower. Once by a flat plateau, turn directly uphill on a short, steep, slippery trudge up to SHS-Ridgeline. No trail here. You will find a small container and coordinates for SHS-Dam. The container is a child of the fine PBS cache, "And now for something completely different."

Head uphill just a few more feet and you’ll be on the ridge trail, catch your breath, enjoy the view and burning sensation in your legs; it’s easier from here……
