Join the Wisconsin
Maritime Museum in celebrating National Environmental
Education Week, April 15 – 22, and Earth Day,
April 22, with a special Cache In Trash Out Event to
be held Saturday, April 21, 2007 at 10 am!
Cache In Trash Out is
an opportunity for geocachers, and those who are interested
in learning about geocaching, to come out and make an enormous
positive impact on the environment while having fun!
The day begins at 10
am in the Wisconsin Maritime Museum's Riverview Room with a
short introduction to geocaching before we head out to clean up the
two parks that bookend Manitowoc's 8th Street Bridge. Hidden
within the trash will be some temporary caches as well as
other prizes!
Be sure to bring some trade
items to share with your fellow cachers and also something to add
to the memorial cache to be placed at the end of the event.
This day will also mark the debut of Cobia,
the museum's official travel bug, whose goal is to visit all
of the submarine building communities in the United States. Come
out and meet Cobia before he begins his adventures!
Trash bags, vests, latex
gloves, and hand sanitizers will be provided for
participants. Restrooms are available for use at the
Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
Special thanks to the City of
Manitowoc’s Parks and Recreation Department for giving approval for
this event and for lending clean up supplies.
